With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, we’re all looking for a way to celebrate our moms and everything they’ve done for us. While flowers and a fancy restaurant are always excellent choices, it’s fun to get creative with your pampering! This year, think outside the box by celebrating Mother’s Day with one of these ideas:
- Make her brunch at home
Restaurants are always packed on Mother’s Day. Skip the crowds and celebrate mom’s special day with a DIY brunch at home. Treat her to bottomless mimosas, French toast, and eggs benedict in bed.
Not a big cook? Try making a breakfast casserole. These egg-based dishes are easy to whip up, and can be prepared ahead of time so can spend more quality time with Mom and less time in the kitchen.
2. Meal prep for her
If you do like cooking, this is a great idea for you. Make a week’s worth of freezer-friendly meals and deliver them to your mom’s house. Not only will you save her a ton of time, but you’ll also show her how much you care.
3. Treat her to an at-home spa night
If a spa day isn’t in your budget, bring the spa to your mom. Set up a relaxing mood with candles and ambient music. Treat your mom to a relaxing foot soak with aromatherapy oils, and give her a DIY manicure. Or introduce her to a sheet mask like #BeautyScoop or #IWokeUpLikeThis, which creates the glow-y effects of a facial at a fraction of the cost.
4. Take her on a picnic
If the weather is beautiful on Mother’s Day, a good old fashioned picnic is in order. Pack a basket filled with yummy sandwiches and snacks (or hit a local Panera beforehand) and a picnic blanket. You might even want to pack a thermos of wine, but don’t tell her we gave you the idea!
5. Sign her up for a monthly subscription
We love this idea because it’s a gift that keeps on giving. Find a subscription that matches your mom’s interests and she’ll feel pampered and appreciated all year long. From a book or a wine of the month club, to a beauty subscription box – there’s a subscription that works for everyone!
6. Organize her photos
Raise your hand if your mom has a bunch of loose photos in a box! This year for mother’s day, help mom preserve your family’s memories by organizing her photos into albums. You could even go the extra mile by digitizing her photos for her!
7. Do her chores
Help your mom about by running her errands or cleaning her house. Whether it’s going to the post office, the grocery store, or the bank, checking some items off your mom’s to-do list is sure to make her feel appreciated. Or give her house a good scrubbing while she kicks back and relaxes! Better yet: hire a professional to do her spring cleaning while you take her out for lunch.
8. Prepare an at-home wine tasting
Bring the vineyard home by preparing an at-home wine tasting for your mom. First, find out her favorite kinds of wine. Then do some digging on the internet to find out other brands she may enjoy based on what she already likes. Present her with a new bottle of wine and recite the wine’s flavor profile as you pour her glass.
It’s a fun way to enjoy a bottle of wine with your mom, and she’ll be tickled if you go all out. Bonus points if you put together a cheese tray as well!
Whether you’re celebrating your mom or you’re a mom yourself, we hope you enjoy this Mother’s Day!
